Taboos have a tendency to restrict. They set boundaries. Boundaries of gender, class, color, religion, occupation etc. The list is endless.
It takes a risk taker to break these restrictive boundaries, creating champions out of ordinary, simple people. They, in turn inspire others to live the phrase, ‘sky’s the limit’.
If we want children to be open-minded, we need to discuss these all pervasive taboos with them. Conversations are must. Difficult conversations need to be taken up first.
All they then need is, will power, patience, and perseverance to chart their own course.
